Over 500 LTTE cadres were killed in last two weeks


So far 501 LTTE cadres have been killed and a large number of LTTE cadres were injured in the confrontations during the last two weeks. Over 115 LTTE dead bodies have been handed over to the International Committee of Red Cross during the last couple of months.
Army Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said that another eleven LTTE dead bodies are to be sent to the International Committee of Red Cross today. He further stated that 186 Tamil civilians have been flown into the cleared areas during the time of March 05 to March 24.Meanwhile, 54 soldiers were killed and 223 soldiers were injured in the clashes between the LTTE and the security forces. The majority of injured were due to anti-personal mines and killing traps.Security forces have captured 31 square kilometres in Mannar so far. In spite of the rainy situation, the troupes forward continuously in Vavunia, Mannar, and Muhamale. By Chanaka Inoj and Rohan Welikumbura
